Behind The Blog
Good afternoon, all!
To start, allow me to introduce myself; my name is Dominique Gargano, Director of Programs and Communications for Global Food Solutions. Being I am the communications go-to, it is only fitting that I be the lady behind the blog curtain (really hope everyone catches that reference). In case you didn't get a chance to read my hiring press release, I graduated from Hofstra University in 2014 with a bachelor's in journalism and minor in sociology.
So a little more about me for y'all- I grew up a theater geek; absolutely love musical theater, acting, singing, dancing, really just entertaining people in any way, shape or form. When I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life (which is almost impossible when you are 18 years old), I basically morphed my hobbies into a career and decided that communications was the perfect route for me. I have always had a knack for written and verbal communication and I owe every ounce of that to my theater background.
An interesting little tidbit that most people don't know; Mike (CEO), Elena (Director of Nutrition), and I all grew up in the same town. Mike was the one that built the business from the ground up, brought Elena on back in 2016, and then hired me a little over a month ago. Something that sets us a part from other companies is that "family oriented" feel that Global has, being we all kind of come from the same place (literally and figuratively).
The three of us are super passionate not only about what we do, but also knowing that we are seriously making a difference. To know that our food is keeping children well-fed and nourished is an awesome feeling, and I know that I speak for all of us here at Global when I say that.
With all of that being said, I welcome you to the new Global Food Solutions blog. We are going to be focusing a lot on what goes on behind-the-scenes, aside from what you see on our social media pages (which if you haven't already, you should definitely follow). We want everyone to be able to relate to us on a more personal level and what better way to do that then to let you in on some of the awesome stuff we having going on, here at Global?
I will finish off our very first blog post by expressing how excited I am to start sharing our journey with all of you!
